The amazing Slashdot dupes

Posted by Graeme in Internet,Wrong at 1:41 pm on Monday, 19 March 2007

IT website Slashdot, is well known for repeatedly posting the same stories. Most readers no longer even comment on this — or even notice. I am therefore keep an online record of the worst examples .

I am starting off with two, and will add more to this post as necessary:

University lecturer claims computer science is dead, and again here — presumeably heacy maths is too difficult for students at his university (which also offers degrees in such heavy academic subjects as lingerie design) to cope with.

Silly patent granted on double linked lists, twice — and the headline was misleading both times. The patent did not cover double linked lists, but the (fairly obvious) idea of multiply linked lists. It was a silly patent, but not what Slashdot claimed it to be.

I will add more as I come across them. If you spot any, please add a comment to point it out.
